Thank you for your comment. The rods are made out of brass. I think you can grab some of those from your local hardware store.

Hey,
first of all , I'm still amazed by all the work and efford you have put in this project. As I plan on doing something similar I was wondering what those rods are made of and where I could get some to build my cube nice and straight :)

I bent about 2.500 LEDs with 3 pins each. I could very well feel my hands afterwards -- to be precise, I had no choice: they were bloody from the sharp edges of the pins and hurt a lot. So, yes: I know what it feels like to leave this work behind. Well done!

Thank you for your kind words.
I can create a part list for you, but you'll still need the controller board from lumisense to drive the cube. I'm not exactly sure if they have released it yet, so keep checking their website. You can find a link to their website in the Links section.
Oh and sorry for my late approval of your comment. I haven't been checking this blog for some time now.

Is it possible to post a parts list for the cube? I'm hoping to build one but it's hard to find the full parts list anywhere. Your cube came out beautiful though!! All the LEDs look like they are in perfect straight rows and it shows that you put time and effort into it!

It's actually enameled copper wire I used, so the insulation is not visible. For the human eye it still looks like bare copper wire. ;)

I think the insulation will disturb the visual effect more than the bare copper wires - except it is transparent
